The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Bayerische Notenbank series of Germany in the World Currency contains 28 distinct entries with CPG® values between $1.00 and $300.00.
Before German unification, Bavaria had its own state bank (Notenbank), the Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechsel-Bank (see Bavaria) and state currency, which was was replaced by the mark upon unification. A little after unification, in 1875, the Bayerische Notenbank (German: Bavarian Note Issuing Bank, BNB) was spun off from the Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechsel-Bank as Bavaria’s new central bank. All the former Notenbank had their note-issuing privileges curtailed until, by 1906, only four were still issuing banknotes. Bayerische Notenbank was one of these. The bank’s note-issuing privileges were revoked in 1935. In the same year, Bayerische Notenbank merged with Bayerische Staatsbank, which is now the HypoVereinsbank, headquartered in Munich.
