The Banco de Venezuela series of Venezuela in the World Currency contains 2 distinct entries.
On 22 August 1861, the government of General José Antonio Páez established the first Banco de Venezuela (Bank of Venezuela, BDV) as a credit company for the purpose of supplementing the treasury. It had no relationship with the identically named second Banco de Venezuela founded in 1890 that still operates today. The bank began operations on 1 November 1861.
