£540 sterling (£440 and £100) in indented engraved Certificates were authorized by the Dec. 19, 1761 Act to fortify Cockspur Island and to provide a lookout on the Midway River. These were receivable for taxes until Mar. 30, 1767 and invalid thereafter. Signers were Grey Elliott, John Graham, Lewis Johnson, Noble Jones, and Alexander Wylly. There were five signers on each certificate.
