1884-O One Dollar MS Values

Details

This popular O-mint Morgan dollar is widely available in circulated grades and even up through MS65, growing incrementally scarcer with each grade point above that. It seems this issue fared better strike wise than many other New Orleans dollars, which often come soft in the strike. MS67s are very scarce and the handful of survivors above that are extremely rare. PLs and DMPLs are scarcer than their typical MS counterparts for this issue but are not necessarily rare except above the grade of a straight MS65.

down This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $58.56

Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.

Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
