1878 7TF Reverse of 1878 One Dollar MS Values

Details

Following the removal of the supernumerary eighth tail feather on the reverse's bald eagle, a bird that normally has only seven tail feathers, the 1878 7TF followed. This coin exists in a few varieties, including the Second Reverse with flat breast on eagle and long arrow shaft, Second Reverse with flat breast on eagle and short arrow shaft, the Third Reverse (Reverse of 1879) with round breast on eagle and slanting top arrow feather, Third Reverse with doubled obverse and no lines in wheat, and Third Reverse (Reverse of 1879) with round breast on eagle and slanting top arrow feather but lines in the wheat leaves. While scarcer in Gem MS grades than circulated and further difficult with PL or DMPL designations than non-PL, the 1878 7TF Morgan dollar is frequently encountered across the marketplace in most of the actively traded grade levels.
