First 2026-P Team USA Privy Silver Eagle in GreatCollections Auction

GreatCollections is auctioning the first example graded of the 2026-P American Silver Eagle with the TEAM USA privy mark, certified PCGS Proof-70 DCAM and accompanied by its PCGS-encapsulated Certificate of Authenticity and original government packaging. With a mintage of just 403 pieces, it is by far the lowest-mintage Silver Eagle ever produced. The coin is offered unreserved, with bidding closing Sunday, October 18, 2026.

The coins were made for a special occasion. On August 6, 2026, President Donald Trump hosted dozens of Team USA Winter Olympians and Paralympians at the White House to celebrate their record-breaking performances at the Milano Cortina Games in Italy. There, the U.S. Olympic team won a Team USA-record 12 gold medals and 33 medals overall, and the U.S. Paralympic team added 24 medals, including 13 golds. The athletes each received a 2026 proof Silver Eagle bearing a TEAM USA privy mark. The coins were never offered for sale to the public.

Of the 403 coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint, 400 were produced for the White House event and three were retained as United States Heritage Assets. The coins carry the P mint mark on the reverse, with the TEAM USA privy in the right obverse field above IN GOD WE TRUST. Each was presented with a Certificate of Authenticity bearing the TEAM USA and Milano Cortina names.

“What a great way to recognize the athletes, with such a special gift from the White House and the U.S. Mint. The recipients - some of the greatest athletes from the United States - may not realize they have something so valuable to the numismatic community. A mintage of 403 is tiny for a Silver Eagle, and I expect significant bidding throughout the auction,” said Ian Russell, president of GreatCollections.

“The consignor contacted us to ask whether the coin was a regular Silver Eagle or something special. At first, I had not heard of the August 6 celebration at the White House, but after researching it, we discovered this was an official U.S. Mint issue made in a strictly limited number. We arranged for the coin to be graded by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), where it received the perfect grade of Proof-70 DCAM,” Russell added.

A Mintage Measured in the Hundreds

The American Silver Eagle has been struck since 1986 and is the most popular coin series in the world. For three decades, the key to the series has been the 1995-W proof, with a mintage of 30,125, which was available only as part of the U.S. Mint's 10th Anniversary proof set. The other key issue is the 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof, limited to 30,000 pieces and, until now, the lowest-mintage Silver Eagle ever produced. The Team USA privy issue has roughly one-seventy-fifth the mintage of either coin.

Why This Issue Will Come to Market Differently

The closest modern comparison is the 2024 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coin with the “230” privy mark. All 230 pieces were auctioned on behalf of the United States Mint on December 12, 2024, realizing $8.23 million. GreatCollections has sold several examples in the past year at up to $71,562.

While that mintage was lower, the entire issue reached the market at once. The Team USA Silver Eagles are held by individual athletes across the country. They are likely to appear one here and one there over many years, and some will never be graded or sold.
