1883-CC One Dollar MS Values
Details
The 1883-CC Morgan dollar is one of the most common CC-mint issues in the series, with bag quantities discovered in U.S. Treasury vaults. These were distributed as singles to collectors during the silver dollar sale offered by the General Services Administration in the 1970s and early 1980s. Many of these pieces exhibit great strike and luster, with many Gem survivors up through the MS66 range, above which pieces become much scarcer. PLs and DMPLs are surely scarcer than typical MS strikes, but they aren't necessarily rare, just more expensive because of the demand for these pieces.
This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $63.23
Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.
Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
