About This Series

The République Française series of France in the World Currency contains 3 distinct entries.
The Convention Nationale (National Convention) was the political regime and parliament that governed France from 21 September 1792 to 26 October 1795 during the French Revolution. The National Convention succeeded the Legislative Assembly and founded the République Française (French Republic, REP). It was elected, for the first time in France, by universal male suffrage in order to give a new constitution to France, made necessary by the deposition of Louis XVI on 10 August 1792.
