Mint State coins per se are plentiful, but most have problems of one sort or another—erratic luster, weak details, and sub-par eye appeal. Five Full Steps and 6 Full Steps coins exist and can be found with good eye appeal, but are few and far between. The 1940-S is a good example of the necessity to look beyond the step count and insist on eye appeal as well.

Reverse Description
The Jefferson home is prominently centered with the name MONTICELLO captioned below. The denomination FIVE CENTS is spelled out in half circle underneath and the words E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA appear at the top and bottom periphery. The mintmark is positioned on the right side of Monticello.
