Jefferson Nickel Westward Journey 5 Cents MS 2004-2005 Values

Details

In 2004 special designs commemorating the Westward Journey (Lewis and Clark expedition) were introduced. They utilized the previous obverse design paired with two different reverse designs, one representing the Peace Medals given out by Lewis and Clark, the other showing the keelboat that provided much of their transportation.

Obverse: A modification of the 2005 obverse enhances the portrait and bust of Jefferson facing right toward to the front. IN GOD WE TRUST appears on the right periphery with the word Liberty in script across the right middle by Jefferson's mouth with date and mintmark (if any) positioned just below.

Reverse: In 2004, two different reverse designs, one representing the Peace Medals given out by Lewis and Clark, the other showing the keelboat that provided much of their transportation. Two new reverse designs were introduced for 2005, showing the American Bison and a representation of Clark’s journal entry upon spotting what he thought was the Pacific Ocean
