1877 Half Union Copper, Copper Pattern 50 Dollars PR RB J-1549 Values

Details

1877 $50 Half Union. The 1877 half union with the small head obverse struck in copper. 7 examples of this design are confirmed.

Obverse: Similar to J-1546 and J-1547 but with smaller head of Liberty, with the coronet ornamented at the top border, and also with decorations at the bottom border. The hair is somewhat smoother. Coronet tip close to star seven.

Reverse: Similar in style to the contemporary double eagle but with different details: a heraldic eagle with ornaments to left and right, stars, IN GOD WE TRUST above, rays above stars. Around border, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / FIFTY DOLLARS, and ornaments. Coronet tip between stars six and seven.
