The Caja de Ahorros de Ponce (Ponce Savings Bank, CAP) was authorized on 20 November 1872 and opened for business on 19 January 1873. It temporarily ceased operations in 1876, though it was operational again by 1882 as it requested a renewal of its operating permit that year. The permit was not renewed and the Ponce Savings Bank ceased definitively.
