The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Oman Currency Board series of Oman in the World Currency contains 18 distinct entries with CPG® values between $1.00 and $800.00.

On 23 July 1970, Qaboos bin Said, son of the sultan of Muscat and Oman, staged a coup d’état in the Salalah palace and renamed the country the Sultanate of Oman on 9 August 1970. This led to the creation of the Oman Currency Board (OCB) in March 1972 to take over from the Muscat Currency Authority as the new note-issuer in the country.
