(1837-42) C. Bechtler 5 Dollar Gold MS RUTHERF., 134 GR, 21C, with Star, Part, Reeded Edge, K-20a Values

Details

Bechtler’s 21-carat issues first appeared sometime after 1836. They are relatively plentiful, despite being issued for a short period of time. The Kagin-20 half eagle is the second most available Bechtler $5, with approximately 100 pieces in private hands; however, attractive, uncirculated coins are quite difficult to locate. The partially-reeded edge variety is unique.
