1995-S Clad Proof Set Cent-Half Dollar PR 5 Coins Values

Details

Original Packaging: A two-piece, transparent plastic casing with frosted borders held a green fiberboard insert containing holes for the coins. This was slipped into a green cardboard box upon which the words “United States Mint Proof Set • 1995” were printed in silver script.

Commentary: Sales of this year’s regular Proof set were remarkably low, but there was a reason for this. The commemorative coin program for the Atlanta Olympiad was so extensive that it left collectors either too tapped out to purchase their usual extra Proof sets or simply too frustrated or exhausted to care. This same situation was in effect the following year, when Proof set sales declined even further.

The Prestige Proof set for 1995 included the clad half dollar and silver dollar issued to honor Civil War battlefield preservation. With collectors’ budgets strained by the Olympic program, a mere 107,112 sets were sold at $57 per set.
