1979-S Type 2 One Cent PR RD Values

Details

1979-S Type 2 proof Lincoln cents exhibit a clearer mintmark than the Type 1 proofs, which have a blobby-looking S. The 1979-S Type 2 proof cent came along later in the year, and numismatic experts believe approximately 15% of all 1979 Lincoln proofs bear the Type 2 mintmark. The 1979-S Type 2 mintmark is the same S that was used on both 1980 and 1981 Type 1 proofs.

Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.

Reverse: Lincoln memorial building centered with words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on top and bottom periphery. E PLURIBUS UNUM centered above the top of the memorial.
