1978-D Peg Leg One Dollar MS FS-401 Values

Details

The lower portion of the R in LIBERTY is polished off, so no serifs are visible. Some varieties of this date may have less polishing on the R, but the true Peg Leg is very weak at the bottom and shows no serifs whatsoever.

Obverse: Bold portrait of Dwight D. Eisenhower, facing left, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST in front of the President's neck. The word LIBERTY is centered on the top periphery and the date at the bottom. Mint mark, if any, is positioned just below the bust.

Reverse: A flying eagle, clutching olive branches, appears to be landing on the cratered moon, with the earth seen in the background. 13 stars surround the design with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR framing the periphery.
