Details
The 1953 Philly cent is categorically a common coin, though in grades of MS66 is becomes one of the toughest Philadelphia-mint Lincoln cents of the post-1929 era. In MS67, this issue is virtually esoteric. The strike is generally weak on 1953 Philadelphia cents, with color and luster problems also providing difficult situations for collectors who insist on having premium-quality examples.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
