1944 Half Dollar MS Values
Details
This is a slightly scarcer type coin as gem examples come in smaller amounts than comparable issues. It is readily available in Mint State, including gem grades up to MS67, which gets a bit tough. The finest MS68 is rare as just a handful exist. Warning that this date often comes with a weak and almost mushy strike, which is unusual for Philadelphia Mint Walkers. So it is something to look out for. This issue is known for having strong white luster.
This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $28.03
Obverse: Liberty portrayed standing on a rock, facing left, with flowing robes and her right hand outstretched with a star-covered drapery flowing behind her. I bright sun, with extended rays is rising from the horizon on the lower left. The word LIBERTY frames the periphery and date appears at the bottom center. and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is in the right field.
