1936 York County Half dollar MS Values

Details

This 1936 commemorative half dollar honors the 300th anniversary of the founding of York County, Maine. The coin, designed by Walter H. Rich, depicts a stockade on the obverse and the reverse incorporates a semblance of the York County seal. While a coin of arguably regional appeal, it is a significant issue in that it commemorates the first county in Maine and among the oldest counties in the United States.

The vast majority of known York County halves are known in uncirculated condition, though pieces grading MS67 are scarce and those in a grade of MS68 or higher are considerably rare. Most York County half dollars exhibit lustrous surfaces and nice eye appeal.

up This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $27.73
