1936-PDS Boone Half dollar MS Values

Details

1936 Boone commemorative half dollars represent the third year of issue of this coin, intended to mark the 200th birth anniversary of Daniel Boone. The American folk hero and explorer helped settle the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains that became Kentucky and was born in 1734. The first Boone half dollars were released in 1934 during the year properly marking the 200th anniversary of the titular subject's birth. However, the Boone half dollars, designed by Augustus Lukeman, continued through 1938.

The 1936 Boone half dollars are among the most common of the five-year series, with the Philadelphia issue boasting the largest mintage of all 1936 Boone halves (they were also struck at the Denver and San Francisco Mints). These pieces are widely available in the grades of MS62-66, though they are rare in MS67 levels or higher. Most possess decent to beautiful luster and color and overall nice eye appeal.
