1931-S Doubled Die Obverse Dime MS FS-101 Values

Details

The 1931-S Mercury dime saw a low production figure of only 1.8 million but is still widely available today thanks to collectors, cognizant of this coin’s low mintage, saving this piece in large numbers. Examples are generally plentiful in uncirculated grades up through MS65 with many Full Bands survivors. 1931 was the last year of Mercury dime production, which took hiatus during 1932 and 1933 due to the economically devastating effects of the Great Depression.

down This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $5.46

Obverse: Winged Liberty, or Mercury (the Roman god of commerce), is depicted facing left with LIBERTY spelled around the periphery. IN GOD WE TRUST appears left of the neck and the date is positioned just below the bust around 5 o'clock. The designer's initials "AW" appear to the right of the neck.

Reverse: A large torch is centered vertically adorned with an axe head and olive branches. UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN * ONE DIME * is spelled out around the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears near the bottom rim left of the torch.
