1914-S One Cent MS RD Values

Details

Among the many early mint marked Lincoln semi-keys is the 1914-S, a scarce coin in all grades. Circulated representatives are among the most commonly encountered examples, as uncirculated examples are somewhat rare. Red Gems are exceptionally rare, with even MS64RD and MS65RD pieces very limited in number. Fully Red pieces with good strike and rich color are nearly esoteric. On the extraordinarily rare occasion that one of the few MS66RDs have surfaced at sale, prices flirt with or have sometimes even surpassed the six-figure threshold. In most instances, registry set collectors resign themselves to buying a MS64RD or MS65RD to fill the gap.

Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.

Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
