1908-S/S U.S. Philippines, RPM Centavo MS BN Allen-2.06a, FS-501 Values

Details

The top portion of a secondary S mintmark is clearly visible north of the primary S. This repunched mintmark was included in the Guide Book of United States Coins for the first time in the 68th edition (published 2014). Prices have risen steadily since then. It’s a popular and scarce die variety that brings strong premiums over the value of the regular 1908-S centavo.

Obverse: A man is seated on a rock pedestal, his right arm on an anvil and Mt. Mayon seen in the background.ONE CENTAVO at the top periphery and FILIPINAS at the bottom.

Reverse: An eagle is portrayed in the center atop an American shield with 13 stars. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is written around the periphery with the date at the bottom.
