Obverse: Head of Liberty by William Barber, style as used on a pattern half dollar of 1877 (J-1524). LIBERTY, incuse, on band, wheat and cotton behind. E PLURIBUS UNUM above, seven stars left, six stars right, date below.

Reverse: Inscription within circle of 38 stars: GOLOID. / METRIC. / 1-G. / 16.1-S. / 1.9-C/ GRAMS 14.25. Around border, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / 100 CENTS.
