1875 MPD 3-Cent Nickel PR FS-301 Values

Details

With a low mintage of just 700 coins, most of which are still in existence, the 1875 Proof Three Cent Nickel is common up to PR66; at which point, this coin becomes scarce. All finer specimens are rare. With effort, collectors can locate examples with eye catching color and a strong strike. Cameos have a small premium associated with them; while deep cameos are significantly more rare and coveted.

Obverse: A Romanesque Liberty is portrayed facing left with LIBERTY emblazoned on her crown. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA appears on the periphery with the date at the bottom.

Reverse: The roman numeral III is centered in the design surrounded by a large wreath tied with a bow at the bottom. This design is one of few American coins without wording on one of the sides.
