The 1869 Half Dime is part of a series of Seated Liberty half dime coins struck from 1860-1873. Struck in Philadelphia and designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper from a mintage of 208,000 struck.
Proof-like surfaces.
Obverse: Lady Liberty is seated on a rock, holding a staff, and bearing a shield with the word LIBERTY on a flowing ribbon. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA adorns the periphery and the date appears at the bottom center.
Reverse: The words HALF DIME are centered and surrounded by an ornate wreath tied by ribbon and double bow at the bottom. Mint mark, if any, appears at bottom center under the bow.
