1855 Cent. The alloys used in this pattern are not confirmed. Testing of these pieces has shown that most if not all described as J-170, J-171, and J-171 a are actually J-170a. Struck in various copper, nickel, zinc alloys.

Obverse: Eagle flying to the left, stars around, motif as used in 1854, but date 1855 below.

Reverse: Wreath as used on J-165 of 1854 with four leaves under E (in STATES).
