1853 Trime. Transitional pattern coined on April 10, 1853. Not seen since 1867 Mickley sale.

Obverse Description

Shield mounted on a six-pointed star but with a triple border around the star, this being different from the regular issue; the so-called Type II style regularly adopted in 1854.

Reverse Description

The regular dies used to strike 1854 trimes, known as the Type II design, with olive sprig above III and three arrows below, within the ornamental letter C.
