1851 Dunbar & Co. 5 Dollar Gold MS K-1 Values

Details

The Dunbar & Company half eagle is incredibly rare, with only four reported examples. The first of these, the Smith/Brand/Lilly specimen, is impounded at the Smithsonian Institution. The Bell/Farouk/Carter specimen grades XF, and the Brand/Grandberg/Newcomer/ Walton specimen is an XF that was formerly mounted, with the initials “JW” scratched in the right obverse field. A single mint state example was discovered in Europe in the 1980s.
