1836 Restrike, Silver Pattern Dollar PR J-58 Values

Details

First struck in the late 1850s. Although it has been widely published that 18 originals were struck in 1836, no coin from an uncracked original reverse die has been located. It is presumed that all were issued at a later date, probably commencing circa 1859.

Obverse: Liberty Seated design, no stars in field. C GOBRECHT. F. in raised letters below base and above date.

Reverse: Eagle flying to the left in a starry field of 13 small and 13 large stars, a total of 26, representing the number of states in the Union at the time. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / ONE DOLLAR around border.
