1806/5 Quarter MS Values

Details

All Draped Bust, large-eagle reverse quarters are scarce. The key date in this short series is the 1804, with a mintage of just 6,738 coins with an fewer than 400 survivors estimated. The 1805, 1806, and 1807 Draped Bust quarters have mintages in the low six figures, but today only a couple thousand or so of each exist. Variety enthusiasts refer to the Browning (B#) reference.

up This coin is made of 89% silver; 11% copper and has a current melt value of $12.77

Obverse: Liberty is portrayed with a so-called "draped bust," facing right, with her hair tied back with a ribbon. She is flanked by stars on the left and right periphery with the word LIBERTY on top, and the date positioned at the bottom.

Reverse: The centerpiece of the reverse is the so-called "heraldic eagle" with wings fully spread and emblazoned with a shield replacing the chest. A ribbon bearing the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM hangs from the beak. The eagles right talon holds bundle of arrows and an olive branch in the right. Above the eagle's head are a group of stars and clouds with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA at the top periphery. The denomination of 25 C. appears at the bottom.
