Obverse: The original design of Liberty, facing right, with hair flowing as if facing a slight breeze. 8 and 7 stars on the left and right periphery, respectively with the word LIBERTY across the top and the date positioned in the bottom center.

Reverse: The so-called "small eagle" motif is portrayed in the center with wings fully opened atop a small wreath of two olive branches that are tied by a ribbon at the bottom. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. No denomination is mentioned.
