Celebrated on the 15th of March over the last decade, Emirati Children’s Day is an annual event that celebrates the publication of the Wadimah child rights document in 2016.
The national day dedicated to the children of the UAE, and is organised under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (born c. 1943). As the third wife of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder and inaugural president of the United Arab Emirates, she is regarded as the Mother of the Nation of the UAE. A pioneer in women's rights, she founded the General Women's Union in 1975 and champions the rights of education, empowerment and family development, which has profoundly shaped the UAE's social progress.
This year’s Emirati Children’s Day slogan is dedicated to ‘the Right to Digital Knowledge’ reflecting a reality in which technology has become a key component in children’s learning, communication, interaction and creativity. The focus emphasises the digital shift from making technology available to enabling children to understand it and deal with it consciously, thereby enhancing their ability to distinguish, make decisions and participate responsibly in the national development process and an investment in the future of society as adults.

The obverse side highlights the official theme and logo of the occasion which also includes the phrase in stylised Arabic script الحق في الهوية والثقافة الوطنية (The Right to Identity and National Culture). Alongside the script is an artistic illustration of a fort, reflecting Emirati history and emphasising the child’s connection to their national roots and values. Below the design is the date March 15 مارس. Above and along the upper rim is the Arabic text يوم الطفل الإماراتي and along the lower rim is the same commemorative text in English EMIRATI CHILDREN’S DAY.
The reverse side of the silver coin features the nominal value of 15 درهمًا (Dirhams) centred with purple colour applied, and which is symbolic of the celebratory date. There is a design pattern of children’s drawings relevant to the region and activities and in the background. Above the primary design along the upper rim is the Arabic text البنك المركزي لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة and along the lower rim is the English text CENTRAL BANK OF THE U.A.E.
