The Bank of Korea (BOK) was established on 12 June 1950. On 26 August 1950, Bank of Chosen notes lost their legal tender status. This Bank of Korea is a different institution from the Bank of Korea founded, under Japanese rule, in July 1909 in Gyeongseong, now Seoul (see Korea B301-).
