The Banque des Isles Saint-Pierre et Miquelon (Bank of Saint Pierre and Miquelon Islands, BIS) was an anonymous company founded in 1889 by a Basque shipowner from Bassussarry in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Saint-Martin Légasse, with 500,000 francs in capital. The bank continues to operate to this day, now under the name the Banque de Saint-Pierre & Miquelon.
