The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Banque de Madagascar et des Comores series of Madagascar and Comoros in the World Currency contains 26 distinct entries with CPG® values between $5.00 and $8,400.00.

The Kingdom of Madagascar was conquered and absorbed into the French colonial empire in 1896. On 11 January 1900, the French franc became legal tender in Madagascar. In 1912, neighboring Comoros (a French protectorate since 1886) became a province of Madagascar. In 1926, the Banque de Madagascar issued notes for the colony of Madagascar, including Comoros.

In the aftermath of World War II, Comoros became a French territory separate from Madagascar, however the two colonies continued to share a currency. On 26 December 1945, the Madagascar-Comores franc was established and its value was fixed at 1.7 French francs. The Banque de Madagascar changed its name to the Banque de Madagascar et des Comores (Bank of Madagascar and the Comoros, BMC) and began issuing banknotes denominated in the new currency.
