Victoria (1837-1901),currency four gold and seven silver coin set, 1887, Golden Jubilee year, in dark red Spink & Son case of later manufacture, gold Five-Pounds, Two-Pounds, Sovereign, Half-Sovereign in top row, silver in two rows below, silver Crown, Double-Florin Arabic I in date, Halfcrown, Florin, Shilling, Sixpence withdrawn type, Threepence, housed in red box with all on black coloured pad, silk lid inlay (S.3864, 3865, 3866, 3869, 3921, 3923, 3924, 3925, 3926, 3928, 3931).The gold brilliant with some hairlines and light handling, generally good extremely fine, the silver toned, extremely fine, housed in a more recent presentation box by Spink and Son Ltd dating from circa 1953 as the Royal appointment on crest is to late King George VI, a nice presentation.

Such currency sets were issued as mementos of the 50thanniversary Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria's reign in 1887. The new design of bust used for the first time in 1887 by Joseph Edgar Boehm did not prove popular in the long run and received much criticism at the time for the "toy" size crown upon the head of Queen Victoria. This eventually culminated in the "old head" design being introduced only six years later from 1893.
