Slightly above center, above a spray of oak and laurel, a small national coat of arms depicting the eagle in profile to the left, with stylized, leaf-like feathers and very large feet. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS surrounds, with CINCO PESOS below the spray. To the left of the spray, PESO above the coin’s weight (in grams), 27 ª 6; to the right of the spray, fineness LEY / 0.720. At the bottom, the mintmark Mo and the date.
