1794 Copper Pattern Half Dime MS BN J-14 Values

Details

The unique specimen of this highly important issue rests in the National Numismatic Collection in the Smithsonian Institution and certainly is one of the most significant of all early patterns.

Obverse: Liberty facing right, hair flowing in luxuriant tresses, LIBERTY above, and 1794 below. No stars (and thus differing in style from the half dimes made for circulation).

Reverse: Pattern die, style never used for general circulation, with perched eagle, low at the center, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / HALF DISME surrounding. This pattern continues the half disme nomenclature of 1792 (J-7).
