CAC Coins Bring Premiums in August 2026

Here are one dozen examples, which were selected from a larger number of results that could have been listed.

1. On Aug. 2, GreatCollections sold a CACG graded MS-68 1976-S ‘Silver’ Eisenhower dollar for $715. GreatCollections sold PCGS graded MS-68 1976-S ‘Silver’ Eisenhower dollars for $136.27 on Aug. 23 and $143.28 on Aug. 16. This month, Heritage sold three PCGS graded MS-68 1976-S ‘Silver’ Eisenhower dollars, for $134 on Aug. 26, $89 on Aug. 19, and $104 on Aug. 12.

2. On Aug. 9, DLRC sold a CACG graded MS-65 1869 Three-Cent Nickel for $1,700. On April 14, Heritage sold a PCGS graded MS-65 1869 Three-Cent Nickel, without a CAC sticker, for $793, less than half as much.

3. On Aug. 9, GreatCollections sold a CACG graded MS-67 1923 Peace silver dollar for $6,600. On July 26, GreatCollections sold a PCGS graded MS-67 1923 Peace dollar, without a CAC sticker, for $3,410. On July 18, Heritage sold an NGC graded MS-67 1923 Peace dollar, without a CAC sticker, for $3,416.

4. On Aug. 16, DLRC sold a CACG certified Proof-64 1883 quarter for $1,700. On Feb. 8, GreatCollections sold a PCGS certified Proof-64 1883 quarter, without a CAC sticker, for $981.20. On June 17, Stack’s Bowers sold an NGC certified Proof-65 1883 quarter, without a CAC sticker, for $1,464. 

5. On Aug. 17, Heritage sold a CAC approved, PCGS certified Proof-67-Red 1909-VDB Lincoln cent for $4,636. During August, Heritage sold four PCGS certified Proof-67-Red 1909-VDB Lincoln cents, without CAC stickers, for $1,006.50 on Aug. 11, for $1,069.94 on Aug. 4, and for $1,037 on Aug. 4, and for $1,006.50 also on Aug. 4. Additionally, GreatCollections sold a PCGS certified Proof-67-Red 1909-VDB Lincoln cent, without a CAC sticker, for $1,380.50 on Aug. 30. All the 1909 VDB Lincolns mentioned here received a grade of MS-67 and a ‘Full Red’ (RD) color designation from PCGS. The one with a CAC sticker brought more than three times as much as any of the others.

6. On Aug. 23, DLRC sold a CACG graded AU-58 1832 half cent for $425. On Aug. 16, GreatCollections sold a PCGS graded AU-58 1832 half cent, without a CAC sticker, for $343.

7. On Aug. 23, GreatCollections sold a CACG graded MS-66 1892 Columbian commemorative half dollar for $2,365. On July 20, Heritage sold a PCGS graded MS-66 1892 Columbian, without a CAC sticker, for $1,037. The published images of both coins are very colorful.

8. On Aug. 24, in consecutive lots, Heritage sold two PCGS graded MS-66 1936 Oregon commemorative half dollars. One with a CAC sticker brought $497.76. The other, which did not have a CAC sticker, realized $317.20.

9. On Aug. 31, Heritage auctioned a CAC approved MS-66 grade 1858 ‘Large Letters’ Flying Eagle cent for $14,030. On July 28, GreatCollections sold a PCGS graded MS-66 1858 ‘Large Letters’ Flying Eagle cent, without a CAC sticker, for $6,875.

10. On Aug. 31, in successive lots, Stack’s Bowers sold two PCGS graded MS-68 1943 steel cents. One with a CAC sticker brought $5,612. The other, without a CAC sticker, realized $2,684, less than half as much.

11. On Aug. 31, Stack’s Bowers sold a CAC approved Brilliant Proof-67 1936 nickel for $3,172. On July 18, Heritage sold an NGC certified Brilliant Proof-67 1936 nickel, without a CAC sticker, for $2,379. On Jan. 15, Heritage sold a PCGS certified Brilliant Proof-67 1936 nickel, without a CAC sticker, for $2,684.

12. On Aug. 31, Stack’s Bowers auctioned a CAC approved Proof-67 1895 dime for $3,416. On May 2, Heritage auctioned a PCGS certified Proof-67 1895 dime, without a CAC sticker, for $1,830. Market values for these were probably 5% higher in August than they were in May.
