About This Series

The Royal Siamese Treasury series of Siam in the World Currency contains 60 distinct entries.
The first Siamese paper money, called mai or warrants, was issued during the reign of King Rama 4 by the Royal Siamese Treasury (TRE) to replace the widely counterfeited silver currency, pod duang. Nonetheless, the paper money proved unpopular and did not circulate for long.
