About This Series

The British Governor series of Falkland Islands in the World Currency contains 7 distinct entries.
In 1842, crudely handwritten notes were issued and signed by the British governor. Since the issue was limited to 1,000 pounds worth of notes, yet the dollar was the unit of currency at the time, a single note of 1 shilling 8 pence was issued to balance the books. All but 3% of the notes were redeemed by the 31 March 1845 withdrawal date, making these notes exceedingly rare.
