About This Series

The Union of Burma Bank series of Burma in the World Currency contains 31 distinct entries.
On 30 April 1972, the People’s Bank of the Union of Burma was renamed the Union of Burma Bank (not to be confused with the earlier Union Bank of Burma). Soon after the launch of the Twenty-Year Long-Term Plan, the 1975 Bank Law organized the nation’s banks on a functional basis, consisting of the Union of Burma Bank (UOBB) as the central bank, and three specialized banks: the Myanmar Economic Bank (MEB), the Myanmar Agriculture Bank (MAB), and the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank (MFTB).
