About This Series
History and Overview
In 1999, dies with the 1759-dated fantasy designs of Martha Washington, the motif created in 1965 and found to have been useful since that time, were made to test concepts for what would become the Sacagawea “golden” dollar. These dies are believed to have been used by the Mint as well as by outside companies.
