Banknote Book & CPG® PRICE GUIDE

About This Series

The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Compañia de los Ferro-Carriles de Puerto-Rico series of Puerto Rico in the World Currency contains 4 distinct entries with CPG® values between $300.00 and $1,000.00.
On 17 December 1866, the authorization decree for the construction of a railroad in Puerto Rico was signed. The concession was given in 1888 to the Catalan engineer Ivo Bosch y Puig, who created the Compañia de los Ferro-Carriles de Puerto-Rico (Puerto Rico Railroad Company, CFC) in Madrid to build a railway linking San Juan with Ponce along the coast. Sections of the railway were built, but never completed. The Compañia de los Ferro-Carriles de Puerto-Rico issued 5-peso notes manufactured in London by Charles Skipper & East, engravers and printers of security documents, stamps, banknotes, and checks. These notes are available in issued form, as well as unnumbered remainders, specimens, and at least seven color trials: red, yellow, and green CINCO on front; and blue, red, green, and brown on back.
