The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Banco de Portugal series of Azores in the World Currency contains 67 distinct entries with CPG® values between $225.00 and $3,000.00.

Banco de Portugal (Bank of Portugal, BDP) was established by a royal charter of 19 November 1846, to act as a commercial bank and issuing bank. By 1887, Banco de Portugal shared the right to issue banknotes with other institutions. With the publication of the Decree-Law of 9 July 1891, Banco de Portugal became the sole issuer of banknotes for the mainland, the Azores, and Madeira.

On 14 August 1876, Banco de Portugal opened its first Azores branch on São Miguel, run on a commission basis by Francisco Xavier Pinto & Company.
