The 1661 1 Speciedaler is part of a series of Standard circulation coins struck from 1657-1661. The specific variety is Bigger crown in upper position than coin dated 1657. Designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of Silver (.875).
Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust of King Frederik III facing right inside a roped circle. Only the cross over crown barely breaks up the circle. Legend outside.
Reverse: Central fancy-shaped shield with arms of Denmark upon a small arms cross. Above is the Crown of Denmark while all aroundthere are 11 flat-topped shield with arms of Danish provinces encircling the central shield. All the provincial shields are inside a rope circle with the pendant of the Order of the Elephant attached at lower position. King's motto as legend around the rim with date and mintmark at end. Date is divided in two by crown.
