Slovakia. New Three-Coin Silver Proof Coin Set Features National Flora and Fauna

Slovakia’s National Bank release their latest collector coin series featuring wildlife prevalent in the country.

On the 18th February 2025, the Pressburg Mint located in Slovakia’s capital city of Bratislava announced they have been officially commissioned to produce the National Bank of Slovakia's coin series entitled Fauna and Flora in Slovakia. As such, they became the first privately-owned mint to ever produce coins for the National Bank. The new series includes three silver proof quality coins featuring some of the central European country’s more diverse and familiar wildlife. The overall theme and designs focuses on adult animals and their offspring.

Grey Wolf – Designed by Josef Oplištil, the obverse side depicts a pack of three wolves peering towards the right over a cliff which is just above an outlined map of Slovakia. Superimposed over the map and background field are paw prints along with the year of issue, 2025. The Slovakian crest is placed to the left of the year and the text SLOVENSKO is shown along the upper left rim. The reverse side includes the images of two wolves, one looking directly towards the front along with a head and shoulders outline of a right-facing wolf along with the denomination 3,33 EURO. Along the left rim is the text VLK DRAVÝ (grey wolf) Just under the outline of the wolf is the mintmark of the Pressburg Mint.

Brown Bear – Designed by Tomáš Lamač, the obverse side features a family of three bears, the mother bear appears to be teaching her two cubs how to fish along the water’s edge. Along the upper rim and above the primary design is the denomination 3,33 EURO separated by a small Slovenian crest and SLOVENSKO 2025. The reverse side depicts the detailed head of a roaring brown bear facing to the left. The text MEDVEĎ HNEDÝ and URSUS ARCTOS is placed along the upper rim above the primary design. Below the bear’s image is the mintmark of the Pressburg Mint.

Eurasian lynx – Designed by Tomáš Lamač (obverse) and Roman Lugár (reverse), the obverse side depicts a mother lynx and her playful cub. Above the primary design is the text SLOVENSKO 2025 along with a small Slovakian crest. The denomination 3,33 EURO is placed below the lynx family along with two small paw prints. Below the image of the adult lynx is the mintmark of the Pressburg Mint. The reverse side features a detailed profile image of a lynx, facing right. Along the lower right rim below the primary design is the text RYS OSTROVID along with additional text LYNX LYNX placed just to the right of the image of the lynx.
