The gold coin collection represents three different series and denominations, the €20 release continues with the theme focusing on wildlife which has been re-introduced into existing habitats. The €50 coin series recognises German craftsmanship while the €100 coin continues with its eight-year series showcasing exceptional German literature.

20 Euro – This gold coin series ‘Return of the Wild’ was launched in 2022 and highlights successes in species conservation. It depicts animal species that were almost extinct and through special efforts, have been reintroduced into the wild again in Germany. For 2025, the focus is on the lynx, once widespread in Western Europe, it is the continent’s largest wild cat which is also called the ‘brush-eared’ cat. The Eurasian lynx lives in large forest areas and is a solitary animal whose territory can vary depending on forest structure and the density of prey. Designed by artist Natalie Tekampe, her depiction of this elusive wild cat covers almost the entire surface of the coin. The lynx turns toward the front with its head slightly lowered and its left front paw raised, appearing to pause in its movement. The word LUCHS (lynx) is placed just to the lower right and below the right hind paw. Issue date: 16th June 2025.

50 Euro – This gold coin series launched in 2023 entitled ‘German Crafts’ honours the diversity of German craft professions and the importance that craftsmen and women have in many various sectors. Following on the themes of nutrition in 2023 and mobility in 2024, this year focuses on health, specifically on optometry. Designed by artist Grazyna Jolanta Lindau, the obverse side recreates an all-familiar image of a patient whose vision is being tested with the aid of a phoropter which determines the appropriate lens prescription for the Optometrist’s patients. Directly below and just under the patient’s chin is the word GESUNDHEIT (health) whose letters are arranged in the shape of a triangle and in typical style to an eye chart, decrease in size with each row. Issue date: 11th August 2025.

100 Euro – The gold coin series ‘Masterpieces of German Literature’ launched in 2023 highlights some of the most beloved and familiar stories and writings attributed to German authors. Featured for 2025 is Joseph von Eichendorff's novella From the Life of a Good-for-Nothing, first published in 1826 which is considered the high point, but also the end, of literary Romanticism. Designed by Berlin artist Bastian Prillwitz, the story of rejection of an economically dictated life and the shift toward an existence based on emotion is depicted by the young and dynamic main character, playing his fiddle and centred. To the left are representations of a customs office with pen, paper, and abacus and on the right are elements of the forest, a female figure, and floral decorations. To the lower right is the text AUS DEM LEBEN EINES TAUGENICHTS (From the Life of a Good-for-Nothing) Issue date: 6th October 2025
